Want to be a better infielder?

Soft hands, quick hands, good hand-eye coordination—when it comes to fielding it’s all about your hands.
Develop that infielder’s touch with training gloves from Rawlings’ 5-Tool Training Program.
Rawlings’ has designed two gloves to improve your fielding skills, the Pro Trainer and the Quik Hands Trainer.
The Pro Trainer is an undersized glove made for adult hands. At 9.5” in length, it is made to practice hand-eye coordination and develop quick hands. This glove forces fielders to stay down on ground balls with both their head and hands and also to move their feet. It encourages soft hands and immediately begins to eliminate bad habits.
The Quik Hands Trainer is a foam pad that is contoured to fit your palm and can be used during practice to teach soft hands. This trainer helps fielders learn to transition the ball from glove to throwing hand quickly and smoothly. It is made from high-durability foam for lasting performance.

These training gloves are also available as part of several bundled packages that focus on all areas of the 5-Tool Training Program. Every 5-Tool Training product includes drills and instructions to help you improve your baseball performance. The program was developed by Rawlings and Ripken Baseball.

Rating the Primo Series

The Features: The Primo series features a distinctive oxblood color, direct embroidery, hand-sewn welting, 100% wool padding and lacing tested to 100lb tensile strength. Utilizing Dual Core technology, Rawlings created a glove with two layers of the finest Italian Leather that work in tandem to create a pocket built for performance at YOUR position. Additionally, position specific break points are strategically placed within the pattern to allow your hand to close upon ball impact while at the same time the inner palm and lining adjusts to the shape of the outer palm to help absorb impact.

The Rating: Everything mentioned above is directly from the Rawlings web site. It all sounds very good and this series is certainly the creme of the crop. I wish the price was a bit more affordable. At $399, it puts it out of the reach of most glove shoppers. The debate is how much better is it than HOH? The Italian leather is a big win - although as I have mentioned, I love HOH. I love this series however I am not sure I can recommend it over HOH. It just does not deliver results that are $100-$150 better than HOH. But - a terrific glove series. Rated 4 of 5 stars .

The Glove: The model above PRM1150T is an 11.5" model with a modified Trapeze web. This glove is primarily use at the shortstop/pitcher positions.

Rawlings Pro 6 hf

Is this the greatest Rawlings glove of all time? In my opinion the answer is yes. First thing is that you simply cannot find this glove anywhere. They occasionally show up on ebay and sell in the $300 range. Used by greats like Cal Ripken and Alex Rodriguez, this glove is not made anymore. Rawlings does has a black leather version on the website ProNP-4DCB, but you cannot order in tan. I saw one on display at the Rawlings Outlet in Wyomissing, PA but it was behind glass and not for sale. Got to find one!

Never do this!!

You may not find a better basket web HOH that this made in USA Pro 2BF. Glove is from the 80's and was issued to pro pitcher Mike Dyer ( I guess he played 14 seasons with 4 yrs of major league service). He wrote his name on the glove with a black sharpie and now it is only good if your last name is Dyer. Why would anyone do this? Would you write your name on a Cadillac? There has to be a better way to identify your mitt!

Ozzie Smith Rawlings mini Trapeze HOH

This is the model that was used by the Wizard Ozzie Smith - Pro 12TC. This glove was made in the 80's and is the miniature 11" model of the popular Pro T. Ozzie did not break in his gloves and once they started to break in he would get a new. Being is St Louis (home of Rawlings), he would just make a quick phone call and a new stiff glove would be delivered. Someone is trying to get $550 on ebay for one of these - sweet glove but not worth $550. Maybe $200.

Is Primo worth the $? Not for this guy. Give me a good HOH anyday. Thoughts?

This new Heart of the Hide leather is tanned softer for that game ready feel with the durability and consistency that is expected from a Rawlings Heart of the Hide Glove. The Ball

Check out these old timers

Two old Rawlings gloves from the collection. The first is an Alex Grammas autographed R1 model. Made in the USA, this glove is smaller is size. The second is a Tom Trash autographed model with a great picture in the pocket. Again this Rawlings GM 15 is made in the USA. This glove has never been used is in better shape, however you will notice it has metal along the heel whereas the Gramas model has no metal. This is because the 1st glove is older, probably made during WW2 when metal was being used for ammunition. The Tresh glove is later from the 60's. Two great Rawlings old-timers.

My favorite mitt

Check out this beauty. The Rawlings Pro RL-1 from the 80's. This glove is so nice (although it looks worn), it is still not quite broken in. I have at least 20 more years from this baby. The other great benefit as you can see is that it is HOH and made in USA. They just don't make 'em like this anymore. Keep drooling!
